Share ownership
How do I buy or sell Mothercare plc shares?
Shares in Mothercare plc can be traded through most banks, building societies, stock brokers or "share shops".
How do I transfer my shares?
If you want to transfer your shares to someone that you know, you can transfer your holding by downloading and completing a stock transfer form and then returning this to the registrars. However, prior to doing so you may wish to take financial or legal advice.
How do I contact the registrars?
For enquiries concerning shares and/ or dividend payments, please contact our registrars, Equiniti.
How do I inform you of a change of address?
If you have registered for the online Shareview service provided by Equiniti you can amend your address online.
Alternatively please complete a change of address form or write a letter to the registrars which should include the following:
- your name in full, as it appears on your share certificate(s)
- your previous address
- your new address
- your shareholder reference number
This letter must be signed.
How do I inform you of a change of name?
If you have changed your name please write a letter to the registrars which should include the following:
- your old name in full, as it appears on your share certificate(s)
- your new name
- a copy of authenticated legal documentation such as marriage certificate, or deed poll. Please do not send original documents.

I have lost my share certificate(s), how do I obtain a replacement?
You should notify the registrars, either in writing or by telephone so that a restriction can be placed on your certificate in case of any attempted fraud. You will then be sent a letter of indemnity to complete and return to the registrars so that a replacement certificate can be issued. There is a charge for this service and for more information visit the FAQ section of the registrars website.
Can I manage my shareholding online?
Yes, you can manage your shareholding online via the Shareview service provided by Equiniti. Click here to learn more and register.
Can I receive my shareholder documents electronically?
Yes, shareholders can arrange to receive an e-mail alert when company information is ready to view or download. This is part of the online Shareview service provided by Equiniti. Click here to learn more and register.
What are the procedures if a shareholder has passed away?
For general advice in concluding the affairs of a shareholder who has recently passed away, please contact the registrars who will be happy to help you.
As a shareholder am I entitled to a discount at Mothercare and Early Learning Centre?
We are no longer offering shareholder discount. However, there are promotional activities from time to time so it's worth checking both mothercare.com and elc.co.uk for current offers.
How do I confirm the number of shares I own?
To confirm the number of shares you own please email [email protected] quoting your shareholder reference number, full name and registered address. Alternatively contact the registrars.
Dividends
How do I find out more about dividends?
To find out when we issue dividends, please see our key dates section. For queries regarding individual shareholder entitlement to dividends please contact the registrars.
How do I join the Dividend Reinvestment Plan?
If you wish to participate in the Dividend Reinvestment Plan please contact the registrars for more information and a Dividend Reinvestment Plan mandate form.
Can I have dividends paid directly in to my bank or building society account?
Yes. For security reasons we prefer to pay your dividends directly in to your UK bank or building society account. The benefits are that dividends will be credited to your account on the payment date and you will not have to wait for a cheque to clear on your account. A tax voucher will be sent to you so you know how much has been paid in to your account and on which date.
If you would like your dividends to be paid in this way, please download and complete a dividend mandate form and return it to the registrars.
An existing mandate can also be amended online once you have registered with Shareview.
For payments direct to a bank outside the UK, please contact the registrars.
I have my dividends paid directly into my bank account. I have now changed my account, what do I do?
An existing mandate can be amended online once you have registered with Shareview. Otherwise you will need to send a letter to the registrars which should include the following:
- your name in full
- your registered address
- your shareholder reference number
- your new account details; bank/ building society name, account holder name, sort code and account number
This letter must be signed. If your have a multiple person shareholding all shareholders must sign this letter.
