The Mothercare Customer Service Team
Mothercare - voted one of The Sunday Times 20 Best Big Companies to Work for 2009
We believe that our people make our business what it is today. We are committed to equal opportunities and being a parent friendly company. It's hard work at Mothercare but we try to make it fun and demonstrate our commitment to our people.
Investing in our workforce through training and development is essential for future growth. One example of the quality of the training we provide our staff is our relationship with the Norland College which has been at the forefront of childcare training for over 110 years.
The lecturers at Norland College have been working with Mothercare's buyers, technologists and designers to support and increase their knowledge of child development and specific aspects of childcare. This puts them in the best position to develop innovative products to meet the needs of children and their parents. The initiative was set up by Liz Day, Mothercare's Health and Parenting Advisor to support Mothercare's commitment to develop the highest quality products for parents and children.
We like to know what our employees think and we consult with them on a regular basis through two 'Sounding Boards which operate at head office and store levels. This gives us the opportunity to hear and respond to our employees hopes, desires and concerns.
Bringing Early Learning Centre and Mothercare together prompted us to define our Group DNA:
These are the cornerstones of the culture we want to create in our workplace which will help us achieve our growth plan. Over the next 12 months all employees will receive information and training on what the DNA means in practice.
These are just some of the examples of why staff working for Mothercare voted us as one of the top 20 Best Companies to Work For.
